Comprehensive Planner II
City of Amarillo
Notice from the City of Amarillo Environmental Health Department:
The City of Amarillo is warning that the mosquito population is emerging in full force. The Greenways Park and Parkway areas are on the schedule to be sprayed. After speaking with the Environmental Health Department, there are a few reasons why the mosquito population is so great right now. One is the rain and another is that the mosquitos that were dormant during our drought are now hatching and re-emerging.
The City of Amarillo is spraying day and night as the conditions need to be just right. The temperature has to be below 80 degrees and the wind below 10 mph. When the City does spray, there is only a 10% kill rate, so you will still need to take precautions when outside.
Here are a few MOSQUITO CONTROL TIPS from the City of Amarillo Health Department:
1. Keep grass and weeds cut short as mosquitos love to hide in this type of habitat.
2. "Tip-and-Toss" all standing water in your yard and around your home. This includes children's toys, bird baths and items as small as a bottle cap that hold water.
3. Wear long-sleeved clothing and pants and spray with mosquito repellant if you will be outside.
If you have any questions, please call the City of Amarillo Environmental Health at 379-9472.

Due to the recent criminal activity and advice from the Amarillo Police Department, the HOA board has voted to cancel the garage sale for 2015. The board will reevaluate for next year.
